About Us
Our studio is designed with young and old recycled materials, living roof(soon), natural light and love.
Our artist and instructor, Annie Cappelli was born in Canada, raised with the open prairies, mountains and rivers. She spent her childhood divided between this
and the warm waters and wetlands of south Florida. Now residing in California for
the past 15 years.

"I've found diversity in nature that evokes spirituality, peace and true awe of my surroundings. I have always been met with wonder and inspiration from nature. Never at a loss for what to paint of sculpt, only the unending flow of beauty before me. I began sculpting at the age of 7, and received my first kiln when I was 12. For me, painting and illustration have always had a close kinship with the earth formed clay. Humor, compassion and empathy are the words to describe the subjects that inspire my art. I hope that you will unearth a mindfulness as you ponder the places and people I have created.
 Annie E. Cappelli

Educated at the prestigious Ontario College of Art in Toronto, Canada; studying sculpture, figurative drawing, documentary film and color, I expanded my techniques. Learning from each piece of artwork created something new in myself and never believing "it couldn't be done". I worked extensively for 9 years as a science illustrator until returning several years later to Platt college to study graphic design, multimedia & computer animation in Southern California. I gradually found my back to the low tech world of fine art in search of hands on creativity and the ability to share my love of clay.

I look forward with childlike enthusiasm to exploring building and sculpting in clay. I shared this joy with many children from ages 2 1/2 to 15. Teaching through a grant program in local elementary schools, teacher training programs, clay classes at the San Luis Obispo Art Center and several studios in Canada and south Florida.

Heraclitus (540-480 BC) said, "You could not step twice into the same river; for other waters are ever flowing on to you." I believe you must create for yourself, not for the market, for all of the acceptance in the world must come from you...
